The Cátedra de Poesía y Estética José Ángel Valente was created in 2002 after the world-famous Galician poet José Ángel Valente (1929–2000) had donated his personal archive and library to the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Directed by the academic and poet Claudio Rodríguez Fer, who is also the director of the Cátedra, the collection hosts monographs of individual and collective authorship devoted both to the poet’s vast and multi-faceted oeuvre and to the generational, vital and intellectual context in which it appeared. The collection is open to national and international writers inside and outside the academia. Though most of the Publicaciones de la Cátedra Valente fall under the heading of research and are intended for an academic public from all around the world, they also include literary essays and poetic compositions. Collection in progress.
