Atlas lingüístico galego

ALGa is a foundational project of the Galician Language Institute to describe the wealth of the geographic variation of modern Galician. Between 1974 and 1977 three researchers of the Institute carried out in situ surveys in 167 points of the linguistic domain (152 of Galicia and 15 of the Galician-speaking areas of Asturias, León and Zamora). A questionnaire of 2,711 questions was filled in, with an average of 4,000 forms collected by place. With these a database of almost half a million registers was created, including the text of the answers and abundant complementary information. The connection between this base and a program of geographic information management allows for the immediate cartographic representation of each answer.
